Nicky Hayden

The Kentucky Kid

Nicholas Patrick Hayden, known by everyone as Nicky, built his career on races in the American Championship series and MotoGP. Nicky rode his first motorbike at the age of three and began racing with his four brothers just two years later. He was soon taking part in American race meetings and in 2002 became the youngest ever champion in the history of the AMA Superbike series. Just one year later in 2003, he rode in the MotoGP series for both Honda and Ducati.

Nicky's kindness and open nature have made him very popular with fans and sponsors alike. His smile however masks the determination of a true fighter. Few riders in the championship are as focussed on success on the track and on training as Nicky. By now he can rightly be considered a veteran of MotoGP. His return to Honda was greeted with great enthusiasm by his many fans. In 2014 the Kentucky pilot lands in the Aspar team on top of a Honda Open, but without obtaining major positions due to the consequences of a wrist fracture suffered during the Indianapolis GP qualifications in 2012. He retires from MotoGP at the end of 2015, moving to Superbike in 2016 on a Honda.
